These consulting engagements include accounting system design and implementation, budgeting, business and strategic planning, litigation support and forensic accounting, profitability studies and revenue enhancements, training, and recruitment.

A Grossberg Company LLP client based in Alexandria, Virginia is seeking a Controller.  This client is a highly regarded construction firm in the Washington DC area.  This client is a smallish office with a casual, friendly atmosphere.   As the Controller you will report to the president and will be responsible for supervising operations for the accounting team.  Some of the day-to-day responsibilities may include:

    Preparation of monthly and annual financials
    Billing of contract progress requisitions 
    Preparation of payroll tax returns
    Monitor monthly and quarterly variations between actual and budget
    Analyze monthly statements of operations
    Review and adjust monthly accruals
    Preparation of various filings such as personal property and annual reports
    Preparation and analysis of annual budgets
    Preparation of year end work papers for our auditors
    Maintain all correspondence with IRS and State and Local Taxing Authorities
    Supervise and provide assistance to two (2) subordinates

Required Skills:
•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required
•    Six plus years of accounting experience in construction industry is preferred
•    CPA is a plus
•    MUST possess an advanced understanding of accounting principles
•    MUST have experience with Sage50
•    Intermediate to Advanced Excel experience required
•    Computer proficiency required including experience with MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel
•    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and listening skills
•    Excellent organizational skills and time management ability essential to meet recurring, and sometimes, concurrent processing deadlines
•    Superior team orientation skills are required
•    Strong attention to detail is required
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills required
